Paint or replaster

I've been asked this question several times in my 24 plus years in the pool industry and until this past pool season I never seen any problems with painting your gunite pool. I added pool plastering this year and replastered 2 pools that had been painted and it was a nightmare removing the paint so we could bond coat pool prier to plastering. I know that painting your pool seems like it cost less at the time but it is only a temporary fix and will have to be repeated at least every other year to keep your pool looking good.

So I've realized that it's best(in my opinion) to replaster your pool rather than paint it because sooner or later plastering pool will have to be done and the cost added to remove the paint is just about as much to plaster.
